This guide covers what to expect, how to navigate the store, and tips to avoid common mistakes. Whether you’re furnishing a new home or updating a room, these insights will help you make smart choices.
Why Choose Ashley HomeStore in Madison, TN?
Ashley HomeStore in Madison offers a wide range of furniture from living room sets to bedroom collections. The store is known for its frequent sales and financing options. Many customers appreciate the ability to see and test furniture in person before buying. Unlike online-only retailers, you can check the comfort of a sofa or the sturdiness of a dining table. The Madison location also provides local delivery and assembly services, which can save you time and hassle.
How to Prepare for Your Visit
Before heading to the store, measure your space. Write down dimensions of doorways, hallways, and the room where the furniture will go. This prevents buying something that won’t fit. Also, take photos of your current decor to match colors and styles. Ashley HomeStore offers free design consultations – schedule one if you need help. Bring a list of must-haves (e.g., storage, reclining features) to stay focused.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Buying Furniture
1. Ignoring fabric durability: If you have kids or pets, choose performance fabrics like microfiber or leather. Avoid delicate materials that stain easily.
2. Overlooking delivery details: Ask about delivery fees, timeframes, and whether old furniture removal is included. Some promotions may have hidden costs.
3. Not testing comfort: Sit on sofas, lie on mattresses, and open drawers. What looks good may not feel good.
4. Forgetting about scale: A large sectional can overwhelm a small room. Use painter’s tape on the floor to visualize the footprint.
5. Skipping warranty info: Ashley offers protection plans. Read what they cover – some exclude stains or accidental damage.
Step-by-Step Shopping Process
Step 1: Browse online first. Check Ashley’s website for current sales and availability at the Madison store. Note item numbers.
Step 2: Visit the store. Go on weekdays to avoid crowds. Take your measurements and photos.
Step 3: Test everything. Spend at least 10 minutes on sofas and chairs. Open and close drawers.
Step 4: Ask about discounts. Sometimes floor models or clearance items are marked down. Also, inquire about price matching.
Step 5: Review the order. Confirm dimensions, color, fabric, delivery date, and total cost including taxes and fees. Get everything in writing.
What to Look for in Quality Furniture
Check the frame construction: solid wood or plywood is better than particle board. Look for dovetail joints in drawers. For upholstery, ask about the coil count in cushions – higher counts usually mean better support. Test the stability of legs and base. Avoid pieces that wobble. Also, consider the return policy: Ashley typically allows returns within a short window, but restocking fees may apply.
