If you're furnishing a home in the Pittsburgh area, the Ashley Store is a go-to destination for stylish and affordable furniture. With multiple locations across the city, Ashley offers a wide selection of living room, bedroom, dining, and home office furniture, plus decor accents. This guide covers everything you need to know about the products offered by Ashley Store Pittsburgh, including what to look for, common mistakes to avoid, and how to get the best value for your money.
Living Room Furniture: Sofas, Sectionals, and Accent Pieces
Ashley Store Pittsburgh carries a vast array of living room furniture to suit different styles and budgets. You'll find everything from plush sofas and reclining sectionals to leather armchairs and ottomans. Popular collections include the Signature Design by Ashley line, which offers modern and traditional designs. When shopping for a sofa, pay attention to the frame construction (hardwood frames are more durable), cushion fill (high-resilience foam retains shape longer), and fabric type (performance fabrics resist stains). Avoid buying a sectional without measuring your room first—common mistake is underestimating the space needed for walkways. Also, check the weight capacity if you have a large family or frequently host guests. For accent pieces, consider coffee tables with storage drawers to reduce clutter.
Bedroom Furniture: Beds, Mattresses, and Storage Solutions
The bedroom section at Ashley Store Pittsburgh includes platform beds, panel beds, storage beds, and adjustable bases. They also carry mattresses from brands like Beautyrest and Tempur-Pedic. A key tip: always test the mattress in-store for at least 10 minutes in your usual sleeping position. Many shoppers forget to check the bed frame's slat spacing—if too wide, a memory foam mattress may sag. For storage, consider a dresser with deep drawers for bulky items, and a nightstand with USB ports for convenience. If you have a small bedroom, a storage bed with built-in drawers can save space. Avoid buying a bed frame without confirming the mattress size; a queen mattress needs a queen frame, not a full.
Dining Room Furniture: Tables, Chairs, and Buffets
Ashley Store Pittsburgh offers dining sets for every occasion, from compact 4-seat tables to large 8-seat extendable tables. Materials range from solid wood (oak, acacia) to engineered wood with veneers. When choosing a dining table, consider the shape: round tables are great for conversation, while rectangular tables fit more people. A common pitfall is buying a table that's too large for the room—leave at least 36 inches between the table edge and wall or furniture for chair movement. Also, check the chair seat height; standard dining chairs have a seat height of 18 inches, which pairs with a table height of 30 inches. For buffets and sideboards, look for models with adjustable shelves to accommodate tall serving dishes.
Home Office and Decor: Desks, Bookshelves, and Accessories
With remote work on the rise, Ashley Store Pittsburgh has expanded its home office offerings. You'll find writing desks, L-shaped desks, and standing desk converters. Ergonomic chairs are also available—look for adjustable lumbar support and seat depth. When buying a desk, ensure it's at least 24 inches deep to fit a monitor and keyboard. Bookshelves come in various heights; measure your ceiling before buying a tall unit to avoid a tight fit. In the decor section, Ashley carries lamps, rugs, wall art, and throw pillows. A practical tip: use a rug pad under area rugs to prevent slipping and extend rug life. Avoid over-accessorizing—stick to a cohesive color palette for a harmonious look.
